Custom Stainless Steel Mailbox Fabrication in Lauderdale Lakes, WI

A residential homeowner in Lauderdale Lakes contacted R.C. Portable Welding & Fabrication after being referred to us for a unique project at their new construction home. They needed a custom mailbox that would look finished, hold up outdoors, and feel like a final design piece for the property.

The customer called to ask if we could build a completely custom mailbox instead of using a standard post or off-the-shelf setup. We scheduled an on-site meeting within a week to look at the location, talk through the design, review sizing, and discuss color choices before the fabrication work began.

Planning a Custom Mailbox for a New Construction Home

During the first site visit, it was clear the homeowner wanted something very specific. They were looking for a mailbox structure that was custom from top to bottom, including the trim pieces, mounting setup, post design, and finish.

The goal was to create a clean, durable mailbox that matched the new home and would require very little maintenance over time. To accomplish this, the full support structure was fabricated from stainless steel. The mailbox itself was sandblasted and powder coated in a bronze color chosen by the homeowner, while the stainless structure was powder coated white for a clean contrast.

Custom Fabrication and On-Site Installation

This custom fabrication project was completed using a TIG welder, bandsaw, CNC roller, hydraulic shear, punch press, various hand tools, our skid steer, and an 18-inch auger. The stainless steel post, decorative cap, trim pieces, mailbox support, and angled brace were all built with the final location and long-term use in mind.

The project took about four days total. Once the design, materials, sizing, and colors were finalized, the fabrication work was completed in our shop before the finished mailbox was installed on-site at the home.

The final mailbox gave the homeowner the custom look they wanted while also providing a strong, long-lasting structure built for outdoor use. The white powder coated stainless steel post and bronze mailbox created a finished appearance that stood out without feeling out of place.
